ટૂંકો જવાબ
Short run, sample અને ઘણા colour કે photo shading વાળી design માટે digital printing જીતે છે, કારણ કે એમાં screen નથી લાગતી. એક જ design ના લાંબા run માટે, સામાન્ય રીતે થોડા હજાર મીટરથી ઉપર, rotary screen printing જીતે છે, કારણ કે એની per-metre cost સૌથી ઓછી છે. Flatbed screen printing વચ્ચે આવે છે: ધીમું અને સામાન્ય રીતે ઓછા colour, પણ મોટો repeat અને પહોળું કાપડ સંભાળી લે છે.
મુખ્ય વાતો
- એક design નું 1,000 મીટરથી ઓછું કામ હોય તો digital સામાન્ય રીતે સસ્તું પડે છે.
- Rotary લાંબા run માં ફાયદો આપે છે, કારણ કે screen નો ખર્ચ દરેક મીટરમાં વહેંચાઈ જાય છે.
- Rotary અને flatbed માં દરેક extra colour એટલે એક વધુ screen, digital માં કંઈ નહીં.
- પહેલાં digital પર sample કરો, પછી best seller ને મોટા order પર rotary પર લઈ જાઓ.
- નક્કી કરતા પહેલાં printer પાસેથી તમારી સાચી meterage પર બંને method નો quote લો.

Speed માં મોટો ફરક છે. એક industry comparison પ્રમાણે rotary 80 થી 100 મીટર per minute ચાલે છે, single-pass digital 35 થી 75, અને scanning digital machine 15 થી 30. Screen વાળી methods માં flatbed સૌથી ધીમું છે, rotary ના output નું લગભગ ત્રીજા ભાગનું.
દરેક method કેવી રીતે કામ કરે છે
Digital
Inkjet head design ને સીધી pre-treated કાપડ પર spray કરે છે, લગભગ office printer ની જેમ. Screen નથી, એટલે 2 colour અને 200 colour વાળી design નો set-up ખર્ચ એકસરખો છે. RIP software તમારી file ને ink ના dots માં ફેરવે છે.
Rotary screen
દરેક colour નો પોતાનો nickel cylinder હોય છે, જેમાં design નાના-નાના કાણાં તરીકે engrave થાય છે. કાપડ બધા cylinders નીચેથી અટક્યા વગર ચાલે છે, એટલે એક વાર ચાલુ થયા પછી rotary ઝડપી અને per metre સસ્તું છે.
Flatbed screen
Flat screen એક પછી એક કાપડ પર મુકાય છે, પછી કાપડ એક repeat આગળ વધે છે. આ અટકી-અટકીને ચાલતો process છે. Table printing માં કારીગરો લાંબા printing table પર screen હાથથી આગળ ખસેડે છે.
પૈસા ક્યાં જાય છે
દરેક method માં બે જાતનો ખર્ચ છે: એક fixed ખર્ચ જે દરેક design પર એક વાર લાગે, અને દરેક print થયેલા મીટરનો ખર્ચ.
- Digital: લગભગ કોઈ fixed ખર્ચ નહીં. તમે per metre આપો, અને quantity ગમે તેટલી હોય rate એ જ રહે.
- Rotary: engraved screen અને strike-off નો મોટો fixed ખર્ચ, પછી per metre ઓછો rate.
- Flatbed: flat screen નો fixed ખર્ચ (નીચેના example માં rotary કરતાં ઓછો), અને per metre rate બાકીના બંનેની વચ્ચે.
રૂપિયામાં published rate ઓછા મળે છે અને બહુ ઉપર-નીચે થાય છે. October 2026 માં public listing માં આ દેખાયું.

ધ્યાન રાખો: આ listed rate છે, quote નહીં. કાપડ, colour ની સંખ્યા, width અને order size બધું price બદલે છે, એટલે તમારી સાચી meterage પર printer પાસેથી quote લો.
Meterage પ્રમાણે example
આ example ફક્ત સમજાવવા માટે છે. Numbers ઉપરની range ની અંદરથી પસંદ કરેલા assumptions છે, જેથી હિસાબ કેવી રીતે ચાલે છે એ દેખાય.
Assumptions: એક design, 6 colour, એક colourway, ફક્ત job-work printing (કાપડનો ખર્ચ અલગ).
- Digital: ₹45 per metre, કોઈ fixed ખર્ચ નહીં.
- Rotary: 6 screen × ₹4,000 engraved = ₹24,000, ઉપરથી strike-off ના ₹6,000 = ₹30,000 fixed, પછી ₹25 per metre.
- Flatbed: 6 screen × ₹2,000 = ₹12,000, ઉપરથી strike-off ના ₹6,000 = ₹18,000 fixed, પછી ₹30 per metre.

ઉદાહરણ: Digital અને rotary નો ખર્ચ ત્યાં સરખો થાય જ્યાં ₹45 × m = ₹30,000 + ₹25 × m. એટલે ₹20 × m = ₹30,000, તો m = 1,500 મીટર. આ જ રીતે digital અને flatbed 1,200 m પર મળે છે, અને flatbed અને rotary 2,400 m પર.
Per metre જુઓ તો rotary 500 m પર ₹85 થી ઘટીને 10,000 m પર ₹28 થાય છે, કારણ કે ₹30,000 વધુ કાપડમાં વહેંચાય છે. Digital ₹45 પર જ રહે છે.
બે વસ્તુ break-even ને બહુ ખસેડે છે:
- વધુ colour. 10 colour પર rotary નો fixed ખર્ચ ₹46,000 થાય છે (10 × ₹4,000 + ₹6,000), અને digital સાથેનો break-even 2,300 m પર જાય છે.
- વધુ colourway. એ જ screen બીજી ink થી બીજો colourway print કરી શકે, એટલે દરેક colourway પર rotary સસ્તું પડે છે. Digital ને એ જ file ફરી છાપવાથી કોઈ ફાયદો નથી.
આ પરિણામ published અંદાજની અંદર જ છે. SPGPrints એ quote કરેલી Gherzi study પ્રમાણે લગભગ 1,200 m થી ઓછામાં digital આગળ છે અને 3,000 m થી ઉપર rotary. 2018 ની એક Indian comparison એ કહ્યું કે 3 થી 4 colourway વાળી design માટે લગભગ 2,500 m સુધી digital cost effective છે.
Colour, set-up અને minimum
Colour ની limit
Digital ગમે તેટલા colour print કરે છે, soft gradient અને photo texture પણ, કારણ કે ink નાના dots માં ભળે છે. Screen વાળી methods flat spot colour print કરે છે, દરેક screen પર એક ink.
Rotary machine સામાન્ય રીતે 12 થી 24 screen સાથે બને છે. Cotton Works પ્રમાણે 24 screen માં કાપડનો પોતાનો colour ગણીએ તો 25 colour થાય. Flatbed practice માં સામાન્ય રીતે ઓછું ચાલે છે, જોકે કેટલાક automatic Indian machine 25 colour સુધી rated છે.
ટિપ: બે screen colour ને એકબીજા પર ચઢાવવાથી (fall-on) ત્રીજી screen વગર ત્રીજો shade મળે છે. Colour ઓછા કરતા પહેલાં mill ને પૂછો કે તેઓ fall-on plan કરે છે કે નહીં.
Set-up time અને MOQ
Digital નો set-up ઝડપથી થાય છે: file load કરો, RIP માંથી કાઢો, colour check કરો. 2026 ની એક comparison આખા digital cycle ને 4 થી 8 કલાક કહે છે.
Rotary માં engraving, ink બનાવવી અને approval માટે strike-off લાગે છે. 2026 ની એક comparison આખા cycle ને 3 થી 6 અઠવાડિયાં કહે છે.
Minimum fixed ખર્ચ પ્રમાણે ચાલે છે. એ જ comparison digital માટે 1 m અને rotary માટે 500 થી 3,000 m આપે છે. Indian print house પોતાનો minimum કહે છે, એટલે આને વાતચીતની શરૂઆત ગણો.

કયું પસંદ કરવું
Digital પસંદ કરો જો
- એક design નું 1,000 મીટરથી ઓછું જોઈએ.
- Design માં photo shading, gradient કે 12 થી વધુ colour છે.
- Sample ઝડપથી જોઈએ, કે નાના lot માં ઘણા colourway.
- Design એક વારનો placement print છે, જેમ કે kurti panel કે અલગ pallu વાળી saree.
Rotary પસંદ કરો જો
- એક design હજારો મીટરમાં વેચાશે.
- Design flat colour માં બને છે, બની શકે તો 12 થી ઓછા.
- Screen અને strike-off માટે થોડાં અઠવાડિયાં રાહ જોઈ શકો છો.
- એ જ screen ઘણા colourway માં ફરી print કરશો.
Flatbed પસંદ કરો જો
- Repeat rotary screen માટે બહુ મોટો છે, જેમ કે bedsheet કે મોટા saree layout માં.
- Run medium છે, તમારા quote માં digital અને rotary zone ની વચ્ચેનો.
- કાપડ પહોળું છે, કે towel જેવું pile fabric છે જેમાં paste ઊંડે સુધી દબાવવો પડે.
સામાન્ય ભૂલો
- ફક્ત per-metre rate ની સરખામણી કરવી. ₹25 વાળું rotary ₹45 વાળા digital કરતાં સસ્તું લાગે, જ્યાં સુધી screen નો ખર્ચ ન ઉમેરો.
- Gradient વાળી digital file rotary mill ને મોકલીને એ જ look ની આશા રાખવી.
- Repeat ભૂલી જવો. 640 mm screen પર 300 mm ની design સાફ repeat નથી થતી; 320 mm થાય છે.
- Rotary પર 200 m ના દસ colourway plan કરવા. ઘણા printer દરેક colourway નો અલગ minimum રાખે છે.
હવે શું કરવું
તમારી સાચી meterage પર બે quote લો, એક digital નો અને એક screen નો, અને ઉપરના હિસાબમાં મૂકો. જો design digital થી screen પર જાય છે, તો પહેલાં સાફ separation જોઈએ; અમારા Channel Separation tool ની waitlist join કરો.

Digital printing sastu ke rotary printing?
એ meterage પર આધાર રાખે છે. Digital નો per-metre rate 50 મીટર પર પણ લગભગ એ જ રહે છે અને 5,000 મીટર પર પણ, જ્યારે rotary માં શરૂઆતમાં screen નો મોટો ખર્ચ છે અને પછી ચલાવવાનો ખર્ચ ઓછો. Published અંદાજમાં break-even લગભગ 1,200 થી 3,000 મીટર per design વચ્ચે આવે છે.
India માં rotary printing નો minimum order કેટલો હોય?
કોઈ fixed નિયમ નથી. 2026 ની એક industry comparison rotary માટે 500 થી 3,000 મીટર per design આપે છે, અને Indian printer પોતપોતાનો આંકડો રાખે છે. ઘણા printer દરેક colourway નો પણ minimum રાખે છે, એટલે collection plan કરતા પહેલાં પૂછી લો.

Digital print વાળી design rotary પર print થઈ શકે?
હા, પણ ફેરફાર પછી. Rotary ને screen ની circumference માં fit થાય એવો repeat અને દરેક screen માટે અલગ spot channel જોઈએ, એટલે photo shading અને બહુ બધા colour પહેલાં ઓછા કરવા પડે.
India માં flatbed screen printing હજી થાય છે?
હા. Gujarat ના machine maker હજી automatic flatbed machine બનાવે છે, અને Jetpur અને Ahmedabad જેવા centre માં screen printing job work listed છે. Flatbed પહોળા કાપડ અને rotary screen માં ન સમાય એવા repeat માટે બરાબર છે.
